Dental Treatment in Turkey: Implants, Veneers, Crowns and Smile Design in Istanbul

Dental implants, fixed full-arch teeth on implants, porcelain veneers, zirconia crowns and smile design in Istanbul, planned by dentists after an examination and a 3D scan, with as much healthy tooth kept as possible. New City Clinic is a health-tourism organisation authorised by the Turkish Ministry of Health and registered with HealthTürkiye. We arrange your treatment at licensed partner hospitals, where their specialist doctors treat you; New City Clinic does not operate itself.

“Turkey teeth”: an honest starting point

“Turkey teeth” has become shorthand both for a bright new smile done abroad and for stories of healthy teeth filed down too far. Both are real, and the difference lies in the plan, not the country. A full-coverage crown requires the tooth to be reduced on every side, which cannot be undone; a veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of the tooth with little or sometimes no preparation. Many people who ask for “Turkey teeth” actually need whitening, alignment or a few veneers rather than a full set of crowns. At New City Clinic a dentist first reviews your photos and X-rays and tells you which teeth genuinely need treatment. The plan is conservative, and the design is tried in your mouth before anything permanent is made.

Dental implants

A dental implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone as an artificial root and finished with a porcelain or zirconia crown matched to your teeth. A 3D scan beforehand shows your bone and is used to plan the implant. The implant then needs usually three to six months to fuse with the bone before the final crown or bridge is fitted; a temporary tooth can often be worn in the meantime. If bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed, the timeline may be longer. Implants are placed under local anaesthetic.

Full-arch teeth on implants (All-on-4 / All-on-6)

When many or all teeth in a jaw are missing or failing, a fixed full-arch prosthesis can be planned on a smaller number of implants, often four or six per jaw, a concept commonly called All-on-4 or All-on-6. Whether this suits you depends on your bone, your gums, your bite and your general health, which the 3D scan and examination show. As with single implants, the final teeth are fitted after the implants have healed, so a second visit is planned.

Veneers and zirconia crowns

Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of the teeth and need less tooth preparation; crowns cover the whole tooth and are used when teeth are weakened, heavily filled, broken or root-treated, or need more change. Zirconia and porcelain are common materials. The dentist explains how much tooth needs to be prepared before treatment, since this cannot be undone. With good care veneers and crowns last many years, but they are not lifelong and may eventually need replacing.

Smile design

Smile design is a personal plan that brings the colour, shape and alignment of your teeth into harmony with your face, lips and gums, using zirconia crowns, porcelain veneers, whitening and gum contouring as needed. The design is prepared digitally and tried in your mouth with temporary teeth; the permanent teeth are made only after your approval. Gum disease, if present, is treated first.

Who is a candidate?

Implants suit adults missing one or more teeth who have healthy gums and enough jawbone, or in whom bone can be built up; smokers and people with uncontrolled diabetes need special assessment, as healing can be affected. Smile design suits people unhappy with the colour, shape, size or alignment of their front teeth who have healthy gums. Send clear photos of your smile and any recent X-rays so the dentist can give a first opinion.

How the trip works, days in Istanbul and flying home

Veneers, crowns and smile design usually take one visit of 5–7 days: examination, X-rays and digital design first, preparation and temporaries only after you approve the plan, a trial fitting, then final bonding and bite adjustment, and you can fly home the same or next day. Implants usually mean two visits: about 3–5 days for the examination, 3D scan and placement, and a second visit of a few days some months later for the final teeth. Sensitivity to hot and cold in the first days is common. Tell your dentist at home about your plans and keep the written record of what was done and the materials used, so that any dentist can maintain your restorations. Check whether you need a visa or e-visa for Turkey on evisa.gov.tr. Once your treatment is planned, the hospital confirms your appointment in writing.

What the package includes and price

The package includes treatment at an authorised healthcare facility, hotel accommodation, airport–hotel transfers and coordination, with the contents listed in your written quote. Flights are not included. There is no fixed list price for dental treatment on this page: it depends on how many teeth are treated, which treatment each tooth needs and whether bone grafting is required, so you receive a written plan that lists each tooth and its price after the dentist’s assessment. Complication insurance is included in every surgical package New City Clinic organises. Its scope, limits and exclusions are given to you in writing with your quote and before treatment, so you can ask questions before you sign.

How to start

Send your reports, scans and questions on WhatsApp. A specialist reviews them free of charge, you usually receive a written quote within 24 hours, and a coordinator then organises your dates, hotel and transfers and stays in touch after you are home.

FAQ

How do I choose the right dentist for implants or veneers in Istanbul?+

Ask for a written plan that lists each tooth, what will be done to it and why; check that X-rays or a 3D scan are reviewed before any price is given; ask whether a trial smile is placed before any tooth is prepared, which materials are used and whether gum disease is treated first; ask who the dentist is and what happens if a restoration chips; and make sure you receive a written record of the treatment to take home. A provider that offers a full set of crowns before seeing an X-ray is a reason to walk away.

Will my teeth be filed down?+

Only as much as the plan needs. Veneers often need a thin layer of enamel or none at all; crowns need more and are reserved for teeth that are heavily filled, broken or root-treated.

Why do implants need two trips?+

The implant must fuse with the bone before the final crown is fitted, which usually takes three to six months.

How long do I stay in Istanbul for veneers or crowns?+

Usually 5–7 days over two or three appointments.

Is getting an implant painful?+

It is done under local anaesthetic; discomfort afterwards is usually managed with ordinary painkillers.

Can my dentist at home look after the work?+

Yes. Keep the written record of the treatment and materials so they can maintain your restorations at regular check-ups.

Is there a listed price for dental treatment?+

No. You receive a written, tooth-by-tooth quote after the dentist has reviewed your photos and X-rays. Flights are not included.
