Who is suitable?
Weight-loss surgery is usually considered with a BMI of 35 or more, or a BMI of 30–35 with an associated disease such as type 2 diabetes. The surgeon decides after examination and tests. Your weight history, other illnesses, medication and previous operations are reviewed before a plan is made. Surgery works together with lasting changes in eating and activity.
Gastric sleeve, gastric bypass or gastric balloon
In a gastric sleeve, a large part of the stomach is removed by keyhole surgery. A gastric bypass makes a small stomach pouch and reroutes part of the small intestine. A gastric balloon is placed endoscopically under sedation, without incisions, and removed later. The surgeon recommends the option that fits your health.

The gastric sleeve package is estimated at €2,500. Packages are quoted in euros. Gastric bypass and gastric balloon are quoted individually after the surgeon’s review. The final quote is given in writing after the physician’s assessment. Flights are not included.
What the package includes
Surgery at a licensed partner hospital, the hospital stay, hotel accommodation, airport–hotel–hospital transfers, pre-operative tests and interpretation where specified. Complication insurance is included in every package organised by New City Clinic; it is not an add-on. Its scope, limits and exclusions are given to you in writing with your quote and before surgery.
Days in Istanbul
A gastric sleeve usually means 2–3 nights in hospital and 5–7 days in Istanbul; a gastric bypass 6–8 days; a gastric balloon 2–3 days. There are direct flights to Istanbul from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin, among others. Stay the full recommended period and fly home only after your surgeon has cleared you.
Your GP and aftercare at home
Tell your GP before you travel and share your reports, which are provided in English, after you return. You follow a staged diet from liquids to solid food as the dietitian advises, and vitamin and mineral supplements may be recommended. Follow-up continues by video calls with the team.
Travel and documents
Check the visa or e-visa requirements for your passport on the official website evisa.gov.tr before you book. Once your treatment is planned, the hospital confirms your appointment in writing. A companion is welcome; their accommodation and transfers can be arranged too.
Body contouring later
