Enlarging the breasts with your own fat instead of an implant appeals to many people: no foreign material and a natural feel. It also has clear limits. In this guide New City Clinic explains what fat transfer can and cannot do.
How does it work?
Fat is removed by liposuction from an area such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs, purified and injected in small amounts throughout the breast. Only fat that gains a blood supply survives, which is why it is placed in thin layers. Typically somewhere between half and two thirds of the transferred fat remains long term; the rest is absorbed in the first months.
How much increase is realistic?
A modest one: usually up to about one cup size per session. The method improves shape, fullness of the upper breast and small asymmetries, and softens the edges of an implant. It cannot lift a sagging breast or produce a large increase. A second session after a few months is possible. Very slim people may not have enough fat to transfer.
Screening and limits
Fat that does not survive can form small oily cysts or calcifications. These are harmless, but they can show on scans, so a baseline mammogram or ultrasound before surgery, depending on your age, and informing your radiologist afterwards are advised. Breast volume will follow your weight: gain or lose weight and the breasts change too.
Fat transfer breast augmentation: cost in Turkey and what is included
The price depends on the technique, the extent of the procedure, the hospital, the length of stay and any procedures planned together, which is why a single figure quoted without an examination or photo assessment is misleading. After a physician has reviewed your case, New City Clinic sends you an itemised written quote. It lists hospital, surgeon and anaesthesia fees, pre-operative tests, medication, any compression garment or support bra, accommodation, airport–hotel–hospital transfers and interpreting separately; flights are not included unless stated. When comparing clinics in Istanbul, look beyond the price: check that the hospital is licensed by the Ministry of Health, what the surgeon specialises in, and how follow-up is handled once you are back home.

Frequently asked questions
Is fat transfer safer than implants?
It avoids implant-specific problems such as capsular contracture and rupture, but has its own: unpredictable absorption and possible cysts. Neither is risk free.
Will the result last?
Fat that has survived after three months behaves like normal body fat and is long lasting if your weight is stable.
Can it be combined with implants?
Yes. Fat is often added around a smaller implant to improve cover and shape; this is called hybrid augmentation.
